After the Tuesday Evening CPD Session on The Future of CPD, we had the OON Annual General Meeting, at which Jerry Draper-Rodi stood down from his position as OON Chairman. Jerry had taken on the role from Tom Bedford 2 years previously and has provided OON with fantastic leadership over his time in charge.
The only nominee for election to the role was Jim Ruddick, who helped set the group up back in 2012 with Tom Bedford and Tina Darnell. He was duly elected.
Jim said “ It’s such an honour to be elected chairperson of OON, in just a few short years the committee has done a great job of creating a lovely collaborative community of osteopaths supporting each other, and looking to develop and promote osteopathy in Oxfordshire.”
“Jerry Draper-Rodi has done a brilliant job of leading the group and creating a stable CPD structure at the heart of OON’s work which in turn has helped create the finances upon which we can develop our membership services further into the future – I want to thank Jerry for all his hard work and dedication to the group.”
So what can we expect from the new chair?
- Jim was quick to lay down a manifesto of sorts to build on the good work that has gone before, which included;
- Redeveloping the OON website to integrate new functionality including a concept of OON CP4D – continued CPD, and membership database.
- Creating a clearer committee structure and detailing the committee roles for better transparency and accountability
- At the core of the new structure is an appreciation of a move towards increasing membership services by prioritising ideas beyond CPD including mentorship, support, development, NHS involvement, case based studies, and mini hubs for example
We look forward to what should be an exciting few years!
